The OA Veterans Football Club enjoyed mixed success last season as an early exit from the Arthurian Veterans Cup was followed by a run to the final of the associated plate competition. Aldenham were drawn to play local rivals Old Cholmeleians in the 1 st round of the 2003/4 Arthurian Vets Cup, having knocked them out on penalties in the previous seasons semi-final. Once again the match was very close, losing 1-0 in normal time. Victories against Harrow and then Lancing in the preliminary rounds of the plate competition earned a place in the final against Brentwood. However, complications finding a suitable date to play this fixture has meant that it will now be played early this season on 7 th November at Old Brentwoods.

This season we have been drawn against Ardinians in the 1 st round of the 2004/5 Arthurian Veterans Cup. This match is scheduled to be played at the Bank of England Sports Ground in Roehampton on 21 st November 2004. Any OAs wishing to support this fixture, or indeed the plate final, would be very welcome, although it would be advised to e-mail either of us in advance to confirm the match arrangements.

The club continues to look for new players to ensure healthy competition and also keep the average age down! We are therefore very pleased to welcome Martin Davies, Nick Baker and Hanif Moledina into the squad this season. Any other OAs, who are now 35 or above, who would like to join the club are very welcome and should contact either of us for more information. Unfortunately Paul Stenning has decided to call time on his distinguished OA footballing career and so we thank him for his commitment and efforts over the years.
